Mewtwo is a creature from the Pokémon series. It unofficially appeared in a Bonus episode of Death Battle, Vegeta VS Mewtwo?, where it "fought" against Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series. It returned and properly appeared for the 63rd episode, Mewtwo VS Shadow, where it fought against Shadow the Hedgehog from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
History
Mewtwo was the result of a horrific DNA scientific experiment by Team Rocket's top scientist. Cloned from the fossilized remains of the mythical Pokémon, Mew, Mewtwo was created to become the world's strongest Pokémon. During its early stages, the Genetic Pokémon established a psychic link with the mind of a young girl, who taught it the wonders of the world before she tragically faded away. Its memories altered and its body augmented in painful procedures, Mewtwo entered the world hurt, lost, and in anguish with no real explanation why. In its anger, Mewtwo turned on its creators and murdered everyone in the lab, making its escape. As a living creature, Mewtwo has a savage heart, and because of its altered genetics, all it can think about is defeating anything in its way, regardless of Pokémon or human.

- Before it was decided Mewtwo would fight Shadow, the most requested opponents for it were Frieza from Dragon Ball and Silver the Hedgehog from Sonic the Hedgehog. To address this, Ben Singer made a chart of why Mewtwo was ultimately pitted against Shadow and not Frieza or Silver.
- It was then later brought up in the 64th episode of DEATH BATTLE Cast, where Ben explains that they don't only choose matchups based on popularity, but also what would be the most interesting or entertaining, citing Mewtwo VS Frieza as an example of a popular matchup they didn't pick.[1]
- Silver would go on to fight Trunks and Mewtwo would eventually fight Frieza on DBX, while Silver's Archie Comics counterpart would go on to fight Xeno Trunks and Frieza would go on to fight Megatron.
